W.L. Gore & Associates Day 1

I began work at W.L. Gore and Associates today. I am working as a Consultant on a contract to hire basis for 6 months. With the separation from my family I hope and pray that I can get a Associate status in less than 6 months and get my family moved out here soon. I'll be flying home every couple of weeks but for now I'll be away from them more than I'm with them.

I will use Skype to video conference with them each night. We can have family home evening and read scripture this way and at least do what we can for closeness.

Why do they call them Hoods?

That deep blue color, the soft velvet material, the hoods were everything I imagined they would be. Of course the MBA was a great accomplishment but I remember when I got my bachelor's degree how cool I thought the Graduate Students hoods were. So glad I got one of my own.

I also sang America the Beautiful and For the Beauty of the Earth at convocation. I should put a video of that on here. I can do that can't I?

2 years of hard work finally paying off. What a journey it was.

My wife should have been given a Master's Degree for her support. She has been so encouraging and supportive. I never would have been able to do it without her help. She is the best friend anyone could ever ask for and a wonderful wife and mother.

Well what do you know

I've gotten a few email and a couple of calls on my resume but nothing really legit, until today.....

I got a call from a recruiter for W.L. Gore & Associates asking if I'd be interested in taking a position as a Business Analyst for their Siebel CRM (Sales Force Automation Software) I've been doing it here at Novell for some time now and it sounds like a great opportunity.

I guess I will have a phone interview with the head recruiter after which they'll set up a phone interview with the company.

This company makes Glide Dental floss which I love, and Goretex is what most people recognize. We'll see what comes of it.

Let's see what happens

Well I posted my newly updated resume on Monster.com to see if anyone is interested in a recent graduate from BYU with an MBA. I've got 10+ years work experience and I still speak Japanese pretty good. What have I got to lose?

Two Years Old & Daddy's got an MBA

Madelyn turned 2 today and just four days ago I finished my last class for my MBA Degree. I have been in school for her entire life. I missed a lot of things but I saw a lot of the fun stuff too. Hopefully this sacrifice will pay big dividends that will be for the good of our whole family.

It's amazing to me to think that I started this program days after she was born. Her actual due date was August 5th which was day one of my residency week to kick off the MBA Program. Then wouldn't you know it she came July 4th making for an entrance on our nation's birthday and saving Dad a lot of negotiating with the school so he could be there to see her born. Small miracles, the least of which was my beautiful 7lb baby girl.

European Forgeign Business Excursion

Elizabeth & I left for my FBE today and the kids are staying with Grandma Kjar. We've made lots of preparations for this trip and if all goes well we will be able to video conference with the kids each day. I'll have one class when I get back but for the most part the program is at an end.

Carter's 6th Birthday

Hard to believe Carter was born 6 years ago. What a great kid I love him so much.
