Madelyn's Baptism

On this the 7th day of July, my mother's 69th birthday, I entered the waters of baptism with my sweet Madelyn.  There was a little bit of reluctance when she saw all those in attendance, shyness of the crowd gathered to support her and being in the spotlight more than anything I'm sure.

Once I assuaged her fear she took my hand and walked down the steps in the the warm water.  Then just as we had practiced she clasped my free arm as I held hers in a position so she could plug her nose.  Then raising my right arm to the square, "Madelyn Elizabeth Kjar Olson, having been commissioned of Jesus Christ I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."

She gently went under the water reemerging clean having taken the first step onto the path of exaltation.  She made the choice months earlier in the year and clearly understood the decision she had made.

As the speakers talked about the gift of the Holy Ghost and his relationship to us her eyes were filled with tears as she looked into my eyes and said, "It's so strong".  Clearly feeling the influence of a companion that will now be with her throughout her life as she lives worthy of his presence.

I had the rare privilege of not only performing the ordinances but presiding over the meeting because the Bishop was out of town.

It was a great meeting and I'm very proud of my little miss MEKO.

I love you Madelyn
